Supply of asphalt products in 19 MT capacity ISO "Bulktainers" is often a more cost effective and efficient alternative to delivery in 55 gallon drums. Trigeant has a fleet of 450 Bulktainers which can be used on a world-wide basis to service customers who require bulk deliveries where bulk asphalt terminals do not exist or where customers wish to avoid the logistical problems of handling large quanties of drums.

Trigeant has supplied projects as large as the surfacing of Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong where about 60,000 MT of asphalt was delivered in a period of two years using a fleet of just 32 Bulktainers. At the other end of the scale we supply customers in the Caribbean who may order only 3 or 4 Bulktainers per year.

The Bulktainers in our fleet all comply with IMO regulations, are certified by the American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas, and have a standard frame size of 20'x 8'x 8'6" Most of the Bulktainers can be heated by a direct-fire diesel burner. We also have a number of tanks which can be heated by thermal oil. All of the Bulktainers are suitable for road and marine transportation. For road transport, the Bulktainers can be carried on either 20'or 40' flat-bed chassis with the appropriate twist-lock fittings. Where chassis are not readily available, Trigeant can supply chassis for lease or purchase

FILLING & EMPTYING

There are two ways in which the Bulktainer can be filled:

  1. Via gravity, where the product flows freely from a storage tank that is situated at a higher level, via hoses to the bulktainer's manhole.
  2. By pumping the product from a storage tank, via hoses to the bulktainer's manhole.

Emptying is by pump though the bottom valve, via hoses to a storage tank.

HEATING

  • Use of a diesel fueled heater mounted to the heating tube in the rear of Bulktainer.
  • Heaters require electric and diesel fuel to operate.
  • Recovery time, depending on desired temperature, is between 10 to 12 hours.
  • Fuel requirements at ambient temperature range from 65 to 80 US Gallons per heating session.
